"The play of light across the ground floor courtyard is one of the house's defining characteristics. Late afternoon sun cascades across the brickwork, deep into the plan."

This wonderfully bright, three-bedroom house is positioned on Thyme Walk, a peaceful mews set back from Chatsworth Road. Configured across two storeys around a private central courtyard, internal accommodation extends to approximately 1,113 sq ft.

Thyme Walk was designed by City Architecture and built in 2015. The mews is a private gated community, formed of three houses with communal outdoor spaces maintained collectively by the residents, including bike storage units and individual private courtyards.

This particular house is positioned towards the back of the mews. Entry is gained beyond a communal courtyard with planters and a beautiful Acer tree. The ground floor is comprised of a large open-plan kitchen and living room positioned on one side of the courtyard, and a third bedroom and family bathroom on the opposite side. These spaces are bathed in natural light, care of floor-to-ceiling glazed doors. There are floorboards of engineered oak throughout. With the courtyard at the heart of the home, each of these spaces is designed to offer a flexible approach to modern life. The ground floor bedroom has been used as a home office and as an alternative living room.

The first floor is comprised of two further bedrooms, again positioned on either side of the courtyard. Each has built-in wardrobes and a Juliet balcony; the master bedroom has an en-suite shower room. From this floor, an intricate hit-and-miss brick motif is apparent on the north-facing aspect, in addition to a green roof.

Thyme Walk is two minutes on foot from Chatsworth Road, which runs north from Homerton to the green fields of Clapton and Leyton Marshes. Chatsworth Road offers a lively gauntlet of independent shops, cafes and restaurants such as Pivaz, Venerdi, Jim’s Cafe and specialist food suppliers L’epicerie and Organico. There is an excellent Sunday market and a number of good pubs in the area such as The Elderfield, Adam & Eve and The Spread Eagle, London’s first vegan pub. Renowned wine shop and bar, P. Franco is a short walk away.

Homerton is the closest station running London Overground services. Hackney Central and Hackney Downs are about ten minutes’ away and also offer Overground services to Stratford, Highbury & Islington and Liverpool Street.
